Syracuse University celebrated its 150th Commencement on May 9 in the Carrier Dome, along with
the State University of New York College of Environmental Science
and Forestry, which held its 107th Commencement. Following are
some highlights:


| SU Degrees Conferred: 2,918 bachelors degrees; 1,769 masters degrees; 199 doctoral degrees; 244 juris doctor degrees (awarded by the College of Law on May 16); 78 certificates of advanced study; 5 associates degrees.
SUNY ESF Degrees Conferred: 191 bachelors degrees; 73 masters degrees; 10 doctoral degrees.
Honorary Degree Recipients: Joseph O. Lampe 53, G55, chair emeritus of SU Board of Trustees, doctor of laws; Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw, doctor of laws; Mary Ann Shaw, associate of the Chancellor, doctor of humane letters; John Brooks Slaughter, president and CEO of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, doctor of science; Jozef J. Zwislocki, SU Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Neuroscience, doctor of science.
Commencement Speaker: Phylicia Rashad, actress and humanitarian.
All-University Marshals: Sarah Young, College of Human Services and Health Professions; Matthew Ward, College of Visual and Performing Arts.
