Joe Showers ’08 practices his juggling routine in the Women’s Building this semester. Showers, a natural resources management major at SUNY ESF, joined the Juggling Club at Syracuse University in his freshman year and things have been up in the air for him ever since.
Last summer, he won the intermediate balls category at the World Juggling Federation Championships in Las Vegas, performing with seven balls. “Some people say they can’t juggle and that’s the wrong mindset,” he says. “When I started, I thought it was cool and said, ‘I have to give this a shot.’” If you think clowning around is important to the sport, think again. “Some clowns may
be able to juggle,” Showers says, “but
jugglers are not clowns.”
